Our purpose
Give Together exists to create meaningful change in our communities by supporting small, local projects and organisations where we know our collective donation will have a big impact.
We also want to create a movement in Australia, where people shift from simply making a donation, towards seeing themselves as philanthropists.
We achieve these two things by providing a platform for members to pool resources, shining a spotlight on grassroots organisations, and creating a community of likeminded philanthropists with shared goal of making the world a better place.
What is Give Together?
We are a giving circle where members pool their pledges to make one collective donation each year. By doing this, we can have a far greater impact in our community than if we were to give alone.
Give Together is not a charity itself. Rather, it is a platform through which individual philanthropists can give collectively to make their donation go further.
Our story
Give Together began like many great ideas; over a shared meal.
In 2016, our founding member, Thom Calma, realised that by saving the cost of one takeaway meal per week, he could accumulate nearly $1,000 in a year - enough to make a meaningful donation to a worthy cause.
Thom saw the potential for even greater impact if 10 friends joined him, turning that $1,000 into $10,000. He pitched this idea to his friend and by the end of that meal, Give Together had its first two members. By the end of the day, it had grown to four and by the end of the week, 10 members were on board.
Since then, Give Together has grown to over 50 members, driven by the strength of collective giving. We are more than just a conventional giving circle; we are a community of engaged, like-minded philanthropists who come together to share ideas and explore ways can contribute a positive impact to build a more inclusive, equitable, and fair society.
